Rarity complication of pacemaker implantation
- II. interná klinika LF UK a UNB Staré Mesto v Bratislave, Slovenská republika
Pacemaker implantation is associated with some unavoidable risks and complications, which can happen during the perioperative phase (early complications) but also later (late complications). The incidence of pacemaker complications increases with the amount of implanted devices and with the increasing complexity of the implanted systems. The impact of these complications can be very serious - increase in morbidity, mortality and a decrease of the patient's quality of life. The presented case report describes a 61-year old female patient with transcutaneous perforation of the right breast by a pacemaker lead. This perforation was only resolved 7 months after occurrence.
