Several studies have already confirmed the cross-talk between nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) signaling systems in normotensive rats, but results in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) are limited. The aim of this study was to describe the vasoactive effects of endogenous NO and exogenous Na2S and their interaction in vasomotor responses of the thoracic aorta (TA) in young (4 weeks old) and adult (16 weeks old) normotensive Wistar rats and SHRs. The authors submit a retrospective analysis of patients with pulmonary embolism hospitalized at the 1st Internal Clinic, Univerzity Hospital in Martin, within the years 1996-2017. Aim: Evaluation of incidence, characteristic, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Patients and methods: In this 22-years period a total 69059 patients were hospitalized, 699 of them (359 men) with pulmonary embolism. Results: Patients with explicitly confirmed pulmonary embolism created 1.01% of all hospitalized patients with the average age of 60.2 years.
