Proteomické markery asociované s progresiou aterosklerózy u diabetikov 2. typu

Ateroskleróza a jej komplikácie sú hlavnými príčinami morbidity a mortality v krajinách západného sveta. Včasná detekcia a liečba aterosklerózy je preto nevyhnutná na zlepšenie globálneho zdravia. Identifikácia osôb so zvýšeným rizikom aterosklerózy a jej komplikácií zohráva ústrednú úlohu v celosvetovom úsilí o zlepšenie prevencie, predikcie, diagnostiky a prognózy aterosklerózy a o zníženie súvisiacich nákladov. Napriek ich vysokej prediktívnej hodnote na populačnej úrovni tradičné rizikové faktory nedokážu úplne predikovať individuálne riziko. V súvislosti s recentnými pokrokmi v proteomike sa pravdepodobne identifikuje mnoho nových rizikových faktorov s malým až stredným účinkom. Okrem toho sa môže stať uskutočniteľnou personalizovaná stratifikácia rizika a cielená terapia, každý jednotlivec by mohol byť potenciálne hodnotený súborom testov so zameraním na proteomické markery a na základe rizikového profilu jednotlivca by sa potom mohli prijať profylaktické a terapeutické kroky. Tento prehľadový článok poskytuje súhrn súčasných vaskulárnych biomarkerov iných ako tradičné rizikové faktory aterosklerózy s osobitným zameraním na proteomické markery.
