Význam hematopoetických kmeňových buniek v patogenéze a terapii kardiovaskulárnych ochorení: úloha extracelulárnych vezikúl v mechanizme ich účinku

Hematopoetické kmeňové bunky (HKB) sú jediným zdrojom všetkých krvných elementov. Nachádzajú sa primárne v kostnej dreni, menej v periférnej a pupočníkovej krvi. Podobne ako iné typy buniek, aj HKB sú schopné produkovať extracelulárne vezikuly (EV). EV uvoľnené z HKB, prípadne EV produkované bunkami odvodenými od HKB, vykazujú pleiotropné účinky na organizmus: prispievajú ku komunikácii medzi bunkami, môžu slúžiť ako biomarkery funkčného stavu kostnej drene, a potenciálne sa uvažuje aj o ich využití v prevencii a/alebo liečbe rôznych ochorení, vrátane ochorení kardiovaskulárneho systému (KVS). Súčasne sa však tieto EV spájajú s rôznymi patologickými procesmi. Napriek tomu, že tento článok je primárne edukatívny s cieľom poskytnúť prehľad poznatkov o EV produkovaných HKB, nemožno opomenuť jeho potenciálny klinický význam najmä vzhľadom na možné využitie EV ako biomarkerov ochorení KVS, respektíve ich prognózy a účinnosti ich terapie, ako aj na vlastný teraputický potenciál EV v liečbe vybraných ochorení KVS.
